Uggie The Dog Cements His Place In Hollywood As He Retires From Showbiz

Uggie The Dog leaves Paw Prints Hollywood

Uggie the Jack Russell, who stole the show in Michel Hazanavicius’s Oscar-winning movie The Artist last year, has officially retired from showbusiness in a ceremony at Hollywood’s famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

The 10-year-old dog was immortalised alongside stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable as he became the first dog to leave his prints in cement in the forecourt of the famous cinema. He even turned up dressed the part wearing a dashing black bow tie!

“The main message that Uggie would like to send to everybody out there is to please adopt,” Uggie’s trainer, Omar Van Muller, told the crowd.

“He’s adopted. He made it. If you guys can adopt a dog, even if they don’t make it on the big screen, they’ll be big stars at your house.”
